BEAVSWORLD: 2018 NFL DRAFT PREVIEW

I don’t do mock drafts and those types of things. I respect what scouts do. They have a really, tough job. I watch the Patriots and have a decent feel for what they like: size matters and so do intelligence and versatility. Due to recent events, they tend to avoid troublemakers. They also like production over potential and look for specific scheme fits. And if you see the team linked to a player in the media, almost 100 percent chance the team itself leaked it to throw off another team and create a false narrative. Remember Bill Belichick is a protégé of Bill Parcells who famously said, “We are in the information collection business not information providing business.” In other words, don’t trust what you hear this time of year. My general thoughts on the draft as well as the Pats weekend.

GAME 7: THE AGONY OF IT ALL

Let me make this perfectly clear. I hate game sevens. Why? They could end your season. And if they do, you often look back on the mistakes the team made in other games. Not sure if many of you have noticed but sports are a small part of my life. (Wink) When my teams lose, I die. Wednesday night, my Boston Bruins had such a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. I died for two periods. The Bs performed CPR while choking out an over matched, not ready for prime time young team. Leafs fans must cower when they see the Black and Gold.
Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask had a tough start and the team trailed 4-3 heading into the third period. Then my team realized something I did in game one: Toronto is small, soft and not tough. This is a skill team not a will team. The Bruins are both, and when they decide to move and go to the net, the Leafs have no shot. They did, and Toronto barely touched the puck as Torey Krug, Jake DeBrusk, David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand scored. And Tuukka found his game. And the Bruins saved their season and took five years off my life. But as a kid who grew up watching ABC’s Wide World of Sports and the introduction known as “The Agony of Defeat”, I am conditioned to suffer. The agony was worth it, and my team beat a team this fan has little or no respect for. The Bruins enemy is the varsity Canadian team #Montreal not some JV clown show. The cancelled clown show. Wonderful job, Bs.
